WHAT IS IT LIKE TO HAVE DYSLEXIA?

Experience Dyslexia is the latest version of IDA Northern California’s popular learning disabilities simulation.  LLDC has been conducting the Experience Dyslexia Workshops since 2009, with 1000's of parents and educators attending the experience. 

We have trained tutors, teachers, and parents at the following locations:

• Texas Tech University
• Region 17
• PALS Developmental Center
• Lubbock-Cooper ISD
• Hale Center ISD
• Trinity Christian School
• Monahans ISD *Scheduled August 9, 2022

 

The simulation is a hands-on activity that lets participants experience some of the challenges and frustrations faced by people with this language-based learning disability.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SIMULATION?
The workshop is presented through learning stations that simulate learning disabilities such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, and other Language Based Disabilities that may be encountered in the classroom and workplace.                                 Station leaders guide participants through each 15-minute station, so they can experience what it is like to have these deficits.

Station 1: Learn to Read simulates a beginning reading problem, dyslexia
Station 2: Listen to Me simulates an auditory processing and attention issues
Station 3: Write with Mirrors simulates a visual-motor and writing problem
Station 4: Name That Letter simulates a letter-word identification problem, dyslexia
Station 5: Write or Left simulates a copying and writing problem
Station 6: Hear and Spell simulates an auditory discrimination problem

 

SCHEDULE YOUR TRAINING EXPERIENCE NOW:

An Experience Dyslexia Training Simulation Workshop can be scheduled by contacting LLDC at 806.747.4277 or emailing info@lubbockLDC.org.

A two hour simulation can accommodate up to 60 participants.

Training provides 2 hours of accredited CEU's, framable Certificate, and a Training Reference Packet

A workshop can be hosted at our location 8315 Indiana Ave, Lubbock, TX., or we can come to you!

Cost: $25 per participant, plus travel fees to host location based on milage. 

Seminars scheduled out of town may also require hotel accommodations.
